Ron Paul money bomb for NJ-GOP candidate fizzles

Tue Apr 29, 2008 at 09:10:23 PM PDT

Ron Paul arrived in New Jersey yesterday to help his uber-pal Murray Sabrin raise money to take on the GOP's country club establishment in the June 3 primary for US Senate.  To help promote the event Sabrin's campaign offered a free autographed book by Ron Paul.

According to newspaper reports the fundraiser apparently didn't raise many funds.  Only about fifty people showed up, including one person from Rhode Island who must lead a very empty life.

According to totals posted on Murray's website only about $30,000 was raised between yesterday and today.  Altogether Murray claims he raised over one-half million dollars, of which he loaned himself $150,000.  So far he's spent nearly $300,000 which leaves little more than $200,000 in the bank.  For comparison purposes Jon Corzine spent nearly $30 million in 2000 when he ran for the Senate.

My guess is after Murray pays his campaign staff and other overhead expenses he'll have just enough cash left over to buy the "three-for-four" pizza deal at Dominos for his supporters on election night.  He might even display his financial genius and squeeze a few shekels to pay for a couple gallons of Gallo wine.
